(Vs. 1)  

A wife, three kids, two cars, a mortgage, got no job. Surviving on borrowed time        Sound like you?

I look at the clouds, the stars at night and wonder why, “How did it get this way?”  Does it sound like you?

To dream the dream I have in my heart but keep on hold,   a constant alibi.   Sound like you?

The world is passing      before my eyes.      Can’t turn back   things I’ve already done.

I believe in Jesus!       He believes in me!!!    I believe in Jesus!      He believes in you!!!

There’s a man at the light begging for food looking at me,       I’m not looking at him. Sound like you?

It’s hard enough,      trying to get by     in a world so cruel.       Make up every excuse.  Does it sound like you?

I say my prayers every day   the same ole hour.       I feel good about that.      Does it sound like you?

That same old man is still looking at me at the same ole light      I hand him five.

I believe in Jesus!       He believes in me!!!    I believe in Jesus!      He believes in you!!!

I’m a sinner in the system     Time will come when I turn to dust     Hoping to see the light      Sound like you?

Every step I take, I carefully walk in the world unknown.   Fall, and I get back up.     Sound like you?

There are times I wish I weren’t born in this lousy world,     but how can I think like that?    Sound like you?

I walk, I see, I can touch, I can feel, What more do I want?     I got the perfect life I’ve got the perfect life
